Malcolm Morley Manband memory fail!

Hopefully someone can help. I’ve been asked about the poster below (yes, yes, I know the size of the turn-ups on my jeans is extraordinary… I don’t know what I was thinking either!). Where did the poster originate from? I can’t remember whether it came with an LP ~ Rhinos, Winos & Lunatics? But I don’t think so. I vaguely recall the shoot ~ a film set possibly. Anyone know?

  1. Hiya. Got a copy of the poster framed in my Frontroom/Recording Studio. I beleive the photo was taken on the Blazing Saddles set during the 1999 Party Tour. Will check up & let you know for sure. Can Ken remember?

ps I’ve not forgotten that picture of you with Deke & the O Band chaps. Will bring a copy down in June.

  2. NIck, have you got the O Band pic as a digital file? If so, we could include it here on the website. You can send it to us by using the contact form.

  3. Have you thought of asking any of the folks at Marshall Arts?
I have a memory of it appearing on Barry’s Office Wall for a whileand maybe they remember where it was shot.

I believe it was taken sometime between ’74-5 as part of the promotion for Slow Motion, ergo your trip to the states prior to that. The Man logo on the poster was of course created by Rick Griffin who went on to produce the wonderful cover of Slow Motion, causing the Mad Mag to go ballistic.

Hope this helps, catch up soon, Simon.
